  After a 3 hour drive and some restless children I was pleased to be met with a friendly staff and the quickest check in process ever. We enjoyed our weekend stay and will be using them again. Thank you CENTURY 21 Coastland Realty for making our quick mini vacation such a success!

• Review of "Emerald Isle Realty" at Emerald Isle

  First off, I'd like to say that Neptunes Sound by the Sea was a very nice beach home. The property management, Emerald Isle Realty, left some things to be desired. Regrettably, EIR's management of the property seriously impacted our enjoyment of such a nice home. On arrival, the back porch light had rusted off its bracket attached to the roof and fallen onto the deck and shattered into multiple pieces of glass and rusted metal. Even after a cleanup person came out, we still found large pieces of rusty metal and glass on the deck as well as the deck and patio on the two levels below, respectively. Not a very encouraging start to a group with two children under the age of 2, and the entire week we got to stare at a wiring harness with a partially intact rusted fixture anchor hanging from the ceiling, they never fixed it. On arrival, one of the patio doors broke, the piece that keeps a door from slamming shut, literally broke off the door, another breakage that was reported and never fixed so the door was constantly slamming all week. We paid $500 extra in rental fees to have the pool heated for the ENTIRE WEEK, we had to have maintenance come out multiple times due to the heater continually malfunctioning on the pool and didn't get to enjoy the pool 2 different days due to the heater malfunction. The dryer downstairs wasn't working properly, it took hours literally to dry a load of clothes. Also, the freezer didn't work when we arrived, neither did the ice maker. We didn't know this, since it felt cold, we assumed it was working, so by the second morning, all of the food we put in it on arrival was ruined. Bottom line, it's clear EIR's management team IS NOT maintaining its owners properties, at least not Neptunes Sound by the Sea. They were very dismissive about our concerns at check-out and offered us "Coffee"?!? when we complained. Coffee? Really? How about some kind of concession for our inconvenience? We rent homes in various locations a minimum of 3-4 times a year and have done so for many years using various management companies. While staying at an EIR property, we had to call for maintenance more times in one week than we have had to call for maintenance between rentals (cumulatively) in Sunset Beach (by the way, Sunset Vactions is an A++ organization), Charleston, Wilmington, Myrtle Beach, Cherry Grove Beach, Wilkesboro, Gatlinburg, Williamsburg, Boone, or Asheville, and at multiple properties in each place. If you combined all the different rentals, over many years, we experienced more issues at an EIR property than all of the above combined. I mean that literally, no joke. The home we stayed in is nice, it's just sad that it's fallen into disrepair and that the people at EIR are so unsympathetic to its renters frustrations. USE A DIFFERENT RENTAL OFFICE IF YOU ARE STAYING IN EMERALD ISLE!!!

  Prudential hometown realtors, is now Berkshire Hathaway Home Services Realtors in Jacksonville NC. Worst property managers I have ever dealt with (by far). They charged me a $75 service fee for a broken fence that was not repaired until 4 months later (which they had no plans of repairing, but keeping my money). That $75 repair consisted of them nailing up one board. They lost the key to my storm door and refused to reimburse me for having the lock re-keyed. After several failed attempts to get in touch with the agent I spoke with the owner who was extremely rude and made it perfectly clear that those were my problems, not his. This is a typical Jacksonville business taking advantage of the military personnel. They are CROOKS!!
